The short answer is that women wear makeup to appear to be more attractive to men. In the animal world the opposite occurs and the male is often the decorated one with the female being the drab one.


Women also wear make up to compete with other women both for males and for accepted good looks. However, too much make up muddies the waters (so to speak) and the female appears less attractive.


Men compete for attention in other ways, basic good looks, nice hair, good physique, personality etc. and make up seldom adds to the mix
Women do not need makeup. It is a preference. Some men need serious makeup but they prefer to stick to the macho traditional man version-
We don't NEED it. Truth is all the things rhollow9 said are true, but the real reason is we LIKE it. We love products, different brands, colors, textures, smells, and results. Women like to use make-up, we can change our apperance dramatically from girl next door to glamorous to sex kitten all with well applied make up. It is FUN. We love spending some time to apply all of the products too. Add to that hair, nail, and skin products and we are ecstatic. Why do you think there is no room for your stuff in the bathroom when you live with a woman???? :)
i do wear a little makeup mainly clear mascara to tame the eye brows and some consealer powder .
It's socially expected in our culture for women to traditionaly wear make-up.
some men do have you not seen the men put on make up try watching the news people they do all the time.
Why do women have to shave their armpits, legs, bikini, etc and men don't.....Why is the sky blue??? I say if you find a good answer let me in on the secret too!!!
i dont get it gays wear make-up n they r still considered as a man..
Who told you this? Men apply makeup but they never tell, and yes straight ones too, they put councilor and powder, some times the transparent gloss!
