(Well, some men do)
But I want to know why men haven't latched on to the idea of makeup like women have. Men have to same desire to be/look attractive. So when women first decided to apply substance to her face-- why did it not intrigue men as well?
I'm sorry if this question is too confusing or WEIRD, lol, I don't know how it came up. I'd just like any answer possible. Why is it that women wear makeup and MEN do not?
It has to do with the societial standard of beauty. I know many women who don't wear make-up and a few men that do.
During the 16th and 17th centuries men wore make-up and wigs, and dressed very flamboyantly. As styles changed in the 18th Century men started dressing more conservatively and they stopped wearing make-up and wigs. It just became socially unacceptable for men to wear make-up. That standard has continued through to today.
Read the links below. They talk about the history of cosmetics and make-up. This is not a modern concept, it dates back to ancient Egypt and the Middle East. Why is it that women wear makeup and MEN do not?
It's because makeup makes you pretty. Men want to be attractive, not pretty. Since makeup makes women pretty, it's considered feminine and most [straight] men want nothing to do with femininity.
you're right, some men do, though majority of them are actors. the makeup is too take the shine off the face, but others think it's too girlie
Men are function, women are form.
Now-adays, men can enhance their looks with hair and plucking, etc., - but they can't be caught dead with a blush compact.
Men are too cool, we dont worry so much about our looks as they do.
thats why it takes us 5 mins to get ready while it takes them like 5 hours to get ready
