Men wearing makeup for theater performances?

Why do the guys have to wear makeup for theatrical performances?Men wearing makeup for theater performances?
to make them look all the same or look betterMen wearing makeup for theater performances?
To fit the character/costume they are going as....having a plain face in real theatrical performances is really boringgggg and it will be seen as preposterous in the world of acting :P
Stage lighting is very strong and if you don't have make-up on, it makes you look very pale and featureless. Stage make-up is very thick, far thicker than normal make-up, and it prevents you looking pale and unnatural whilst under the lighting. Although characters onstage may look as though they aren't wearing any make-up, they nearly always will be wearing, at least, the cake-like foundation.
so that they will not look dead on stage. on stage, the actors' features have to be exaggerated so that the people in the audience could see the change of expression that takes place albeit their distance and the dim lighting. actors also have to look the part of their characters.
All stage actors, male or female, have to wear makeup so that audience seated further away from the stage can see emotions and expressions on the actor's face, which is vital in all stage productions - it is a little hard to tell sometimes with the bright stage lighting and distance from the stage what facial expression the actor has when he has no makeup on. Also, like in movies, makeup is used to show if someone is deranged or sick, or in a physical state that is not like that actor's current health status.
