Why is it so much worse for a man to wear makeup than for a woman to not wear makeup?

Is that called a double standard or something? I mean not many women won't wear makeup publicly, but when I go to work with my clown paint on everyone treats me like a freak? Why? A woman without makeup is seen as natural, and a woman with makeup is seen as beautiful, but a dude with clown makeup is just freakish? Explain that to me!Why is it so much worse for a man to wear makeup than for a woman to not wear makeup?

Its socially acceptable for a woman to wear makeup, and its only acceptable for a man to wear makeup if he's on stage. Societal norms dictate what is and what is not acceptable, so you can blame the status quo for not justifying makeup for men.





In addition, clown makeup has never been considered a desirable look...ever heard the saying ';a woman shouldn't wear too much makeup or else she'll end up looking like a clown?';
Well, make up was made for women, so some people get creeped out wen a guy wears it. its ok 4 a woman not to because, its made for them but they have a choice, its not a must for some girls. but i cant explain things like y its ok 4 a chick 2 listen 2 metal and not ok 4 a guy 2 listen 2 like, miley cyrus. but if ur a guy whos gonna wear makeup, try 2 wear it subtly, at work anyway.
it's just because people have this image in their head whenever they think of guys, and girls.. it's stereotypes. I know their stupid but they happen. just like you think of a cheerleader you tend to think of them as stupid and stuck up. even though not all cheerleaders are it's just what people tend to think of. Theres actually nothing wrong with guys wearing makeup a lot of guys tend to wear make up.
it's jus how the world works, my friend! i'm srry! trust me, one day at my school, a guy wore ';guy liner'; and for a week, EVERYONE was talking about it...sum ppl r jus closed minded. i personally find nothing wrong with it! :P
Because in the American culture men are supposed to be MEN all time and can never show weakness or care about their looks, women are supposed to be weak and help less, THIS IS A DOUBLE STANDARD, I don't like it either
